Roche Viejo

Roche Viejo - Overview:
Roche Viejo lies approximately 5km to the north of the white coastal town of Conil, next to a large pine forest. It is within easy reach of glorious golden sandy beaches and has a small fishing harbour with daily seafood auctions.
The area has an excellent selection of restaurants, and tapas bars, where you can sample the specialities of the region, and local markets selling fresh fish, fruit and vegetables.
The once rolling farmland surrounding Roche Viejo has now been partly developed, although there are no high rise buildings just private villas and a few remaining tiny farms. There is a fair amount of market gardening and some roadside 'ventas' (cheap and cheerful restaurants) serving fresh fish straight from the boat. Tracks lead to the sandstone cliffs, with the famous beaches down below.
Just strolling around the nearby town of Conil, among historic monuments like the Guzman Tower is an absolute pleasure, and the area is not deserted out of season like some of the smaller villages nearby.
