La Gomera Beaches Guide

La Gomera Beaches - Overview:
There are only a few beaches on the island of La Gomera, and most are pebbles and black sand. Here we find mostly small bays with fine sand along La Gomera's steep coastline. The two main beaches are located at San Sebastian and Playa Santiago, with several small beaches at Valle Gran Rey and, on the east coast, at Hermigua and La Caleta.
La Gomera Beaches - San Sebastian:
Playa de San Sebastian has dark sand and is used mainly during the summer. The 600m long beach is protected by San Sebastian's port entrance (Marina La Gomera). La Cueva beach is a small beach situated right behind the Marina La Gomera, and this beach can only be reached by going through a tunnel behind the Marina.
La Gomera Beaches - Playa de Santiago:
Playa de Santiago is a picturesque small fishing village with an excellent beach and crystalline waters.
La Gomera Beaches - Vallehermosa:
Vallehermoso has a good beach and noteworthy are the cliffs called Los Organos, a name referring to the curious form of the rocks. It is a place of unique beauty where the most varied species of fruit trees, banana-trees, sabine-trees, palm-trees, etc, are grown.
La Gomera Beaches - Valle Gran Rey:
Valle Gran Rey lies on the south-west coast La Gomera, in a fertile, banana-growing area with beautiful forests and a magnificent beach with golden sand - one of the best to be found on La Gomera - and close to a selection of nice restaurants with good seafood. In the port of Vueltas, lies what is probably the most popular beach for families and children of all ages.
La Gomera Beaches - Santa Catalina:
Santa Catalina beach is located on the edge of the town centre. It is a wide and open beach that is best enjoyed from June to October. The rest of the year is good for windsurfing.
La Gomera Beaches - Playa de la Caleta:
Playa de la Caleta beach is a cove situated a 15 minutes car journey from the nearest town. Facilities here include showers and a small kiosk selling freshly prepared seafood.
La Gomera Beaches - Hermigua:
Hermigua beach does not have any services except parking, but if you love natural and virgin lonely beaches, then this beach made of small rocks and pebbles is the perfect choice for you.
La Gomera Beaches - El Ingles:
El Ingles is one of the nicest beaches on La Gomera. It is very popular with naturists. Swimmers should take extra care of the strong waves here.
