Ribadeo
Ribadeo - Overview:
The marine town of Ribadeo is located 100km away from Lugo (the capital of the province) and it is accessed via the N640, a road that leads around the Ribadeo estuary.
A nature lover's paradise, Ribadeo is home to one of the most beautiful stretches of sand on the Galician coastline 'As Catedrais'. Its rocks form natural arches resembling a cathedral, creating a magical landscape that changes with each tide.
Activities in the Ribadeo area include boat trips, canoeing, fishing, hot air ballooning, golf, cycling, microlighting, trekking, walking and water skiing.
Ribadeo has a proud natural and religious history. The Ribadeo estuary forms a natural link between Galicia and Asturias. This deep estuary is formed by the river Eo, hence the town's name Ribadeo. The town's stately appearance can be seen from the nearby summit of mount Santa Cruz, where a popular pilgrimage is held every first Sunday in August and has been declared an area of tourism interest due to its celebration of traditional local cuisine and music.
