Puerto Naos - Overview:
Puerto Naos is a small resort, with a good black sand beach. Located on the west coast of the island, it reputedly has the best sunshine record on La Palma. Behind the beach, along the palm-lined waterfront, are numerous restaurants where you can enjoy a drink or meal on the terraces overlooking the beach. Along the coast are other quiet beaches and fishing villages with a good selection of fish restaurants. If you want to stay on the coast, Puerto Naos is a good base from which to explore La Palma's Aridane Valley and the National Park.
Puerto Naos - Geography:
Puerto Naos, located on the west coast of La Palma, is a great base for a relaxing holiday amongst some stunning scenery and areas of great natural beauty. Built beneath volcanic cliffs, this traditional fishing village was once a landing place for banana boats, and is now home one of the two tourist resorts in the west, with numerous accommodation complexes, and a wide range of shops, bars and restaurants.

Puerto Naos sits on the sunniest part of the La Palma, and enjoys a mild climate all year long.
Puerto Naos - Beaches:
The volcanic beach at Puerto Naos is the main attraction of the resort the expanse of black sand stretches for 500m along the coast, and is the longest beach on the island of La Palma. The beach is great for sunbathing and is backed by attractive trees that offer much needed shade.
This area of the coast is renowned for its wonderful sandy beaches, with Playa de Charco Verde nearby and Playa de las Monjas, the only naturist beach on La Palma, just south of the resort.
Puerto Naos - Nightlife:
There is a wide range of restaurants and bars (no discos), tourist shops and supermarkets. Behind the beach, the town of Puerto Naos comprises of just a few streets, and a boulevard lined with shops, bars and restaurants. A hotel and bars make up the nightlife in Puerto Naos, which is fairly busy for the La Palma, but still low-key in comparison to the other Canary Islands.
Puerto Naos - Out & About:
The holiday resort of Puerto Naos is situated just 10km from one of the main attractions on the island of La Palma, the Taburiente Caldera National Park. The fourth national park to be established in Spain, it is the site of a massive volcanic rock wall stretching for 10km, and the highest point on the island, the Roque de los Muchachos, at 2,426m above sea level, as well as an amazing array of plants and flowers.
Also close to Puerto Naos is the main town on the west coast, Llanos de Aridane, just 8km away, a charming town home to some well-preserved buildings with traditional wooden carved balconies.

Throughout the island of La Palma there are wonderful walking and hiking trails, and mountain biking, SCUBA-diving, horse-riding and paragliding are popular activities.
