Casa La Abrigadita (literally translated as 'The Little Sheltered House') is so called because of its reputation among local people for being located in a position where it is sheltered from the wind. It is a well-equipped house with a swimming pool, which has been divided into two separate accommodation units - the main house with two bedrooms and a very small one-bedroom apartment adjacent to it. Outside there is a lawned terrace, large swimming pool and a covered barbecue area. There is ample parking above the house in the private driveway. From the terrace area there are spectacular views across the countryside to the sea and to Tenerife and La Gomera on a clear day.
The house is conveniently located just 4km from the village of Mazo, tucked away below the road running south from the capital of the island, Santa Cruz, to the volcanoes of Fuencaliente. Mazo is a pretty little village with a few shops, bars and restaurants and a picturesque church. A market is held there on Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings.
This delightful house is conveniently located for exploring the attractions of the south and east of La Palma. The capital of the island, Santa Cruz de La Palma, is only a fifteen minutes' drive away, the low-key beach resort of Los Cancajos is only ten minutes' away and the volcanoes of Fuencaliente are around 20 minutes' drive south.
There is a large shared terrace area with lawn immediately in front of the house. To the right and up a few steps is the swimming pool and to the left is the covered barbecue area with a table and four chairs. The terrace affords spectacular views across the countryside to the sea - an ideal location for dining al fresco or to simply relax after a day's exploring.
The accommodation inside the main house comprises: Kitchen/living area with two-seater sofa bed, table and four chairs, TV (Spanish channels only), four stools and breakfast bar, 4-ring gas hob, double wash-basins, toaster, coffee-maker, juice-maker, fridge-freezer and ample crockery and cutlery. Bathroom with WC, bidet, shower and wash-basin. Twin bedroom and double bedroom. The small adjoining apartment comprises: Small kitchen/living area with hob and fridge, double bedroom and bathroom with shower.
This apartment may be let with the adjoining unit to create a delightful villa with private pool, ideal for larger parties or families who wish to holiday together.
NB: Car hire is essential to enjoy this property. Although Mazo is only 4km away, the road up to it is very steep and can be busy so is not really suitable for walking to the shops. Due to its location some traffic can be heard from outside the house. However, this is not the case inside the property.

Location

Mazo is conveniently located just a short drive from the beach, Santa Cruz and the airport. It is an idyllic location for nature lovers seeing a peaceful holiday walking and cycling. This area, located in the south-east of La Palma, includes the island's airport. Mazo stretches from the forested heights of the Cumbre Vieja mountain ridge to the rugged coastline. The Cumbre Vieja is a beautiful nature park with a large number of marked walking trails.
