El Molino de Chus, Caldas de Reis (CRE-1155)

This former watermill, located in the narrow valley of the River Umia, has recently been completely rebuilt and restored retaining its character with solid stone walls. This house is in beautiful surroundings beside the river which splashes over boulders and outcrops to form pools. The access is up a public footpath for the last 200 metres to the house. The path continues up-river through a vineyard to a spectacular waterfall. The property is enclosed, with a gate onto the terrace and then another gate opens from the terrace to the waterside with small rock pools for paddling or swimming where local children sometimes come to play. Because of the proximity of the river we do not recommend this house for very young children as they would need to be supervised when not on the terrace.

Ground floor: Lounge/dining room with fireplace, open stone walls and windows over the river and a small glass panel to view the water running underneath the house, kitchen with hob, microwave and fridge/freezer, bathroom with washing machine. First floor: 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom, 1 bunk bedroom and another shower room/wc. Outside: Large porch with table, chairs and built-in barbecue.

Location

Caldas de Reis is a Galician municipality in the north of the province of Pontevedra. It is considered to be the garden and health resort of Galicia, crossed by the river Umia, which is characterised by its rich fish stocks. The local geography has smooth shapes. Caldas de Reis is situated close to a large fault that crosses Galicia, and as there is a tectonic depression at the bottom, there is a clear abundance of scarce slopes in contrast to the Xiabre mountain that borders with Cuntis.
