La Deseada (TNT-1083)

This very cosy farm cottage is located about 400 metres above sea level in the wine growing area of Tacaronte. Above the house are fields, with vines leading up to a Eucalyptus forest. The friendly English-speaking owners keep sheep and goats to provide fresh milk for freshly handmade cheeses produced in the small cottage dairy at the rear of the house.
To the front of La Deseada is a terrace and lawn from which you have one of the most enviable views of Mount Teide. This idyllic rural hideaway is comfortably furnished throughout with very pretty decor and a log fire for those romantic evenings in.
La Deseada is conveniently located just outside the small town of Tacoronte, on the north east coast of Tenerife. Tacoronte is a typical Canarian town where you will find a selection of local shops, bars and restaurants. The centre of Tacoronte and the nearest beach is only 5km away from La Deseada and there are a few shops, a bakery and a chemist within about 2 kilometres of the property.
Car hire is firmly recommended to enhance your enjoyment of this delightful property. A drive of about 20 kilometres will bring you to the chic resort of Puerto de La Cruz, with its fashionable seafront cafes, endless shopping possibilities, Loro Park zoological gardens and large man made lake, 'Lago Martianez', where you can swim and relax. The Spanish town of Icod de Los Vinos is also easily accessible (about 40 kilometres away) and has a pretty centre with an abundance of shops, bars and restaurants. The famous dragon tree, a popular tourist attraction, is also found in the centre of Icod, as is a pretty Canarian garden, both of which can be viewed from the little tourist train which will take you around for a small charge.
From La Deseada you can visit the many pretty villages, which are found in this region. Alternatively, travel inland by Puerto de La Cruz to explore the lush Oratava Valley or take a trip to the Las Canadas National Park, which surrounds Mount Teide, the highest point in Spain. The village of Las Mercedes (north east of Tenerife) is very pretty and has recreational parks and view-points that are well worth a visit, especially on a clear day. Tenerife airport, Reina Sofia, is about 75 kilometres away, via Santa Cruz.
The gorgeous cottage sleeps up to four people and a portable, fold up bed can also be provided for a child (on request). The accommodation comprises two twin bedrooms, bathroom, living room, fully equipped kitchen, terrace and garden.
In the kitchen is a fridge-freezer, gas oven with 4-ring hob, microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee maker. A complimentary welcome pack awaits your arrival. The living room has a seating area, dining table with four chairs, wood burning stove and TV (local Spanish channels only). In each bedroom there are two twin beds and a cot can be provided on request. The bathroom has a WC, washbasin, bidet and a bath with a shower fitment.
Outside, to the front of the house is a large covered terrace, furnished with tables, chairs and a small barbecue. There is a lovely garden with a grass lawn and orange trees and the local flower, the 'bird of paradise' is grown here. There are also sun-loungers for sunbathing in the garden. Perhaps the most appealing feature of this enchanting cottage is the fabulous view of Mount Teide from the comfort of your own terrace - an absolutely idyllic setting for dining al fresco or simply relaxing while taking in the magnificent scenery. To the rear of the house is an orchard where oranges are grown. The owners (who speak English) are conveniently on-hand if needed as they live in a separate house on the estate.
La Deseada is highly recommended for those seeking a relaxing holiday within rural surroundings yet is not too far from shops, bars and restaurants. It offers guests a chance to experience life in a traditional, well-furnished Canarian house with fabulous views of the surrounding area.
NB: There is a steep slope approach to the front door, which may be unsuitable for people with walking difficulties. Car hire is firmly recommended. Minimum stay 5 days.

Location

Tacoronte is a typical Canarian town with a selection of local shops, bars, restaurants and a beach. If you travel to Tacoronte from La Laguna you will cross one of the flattest and greenest areas in Tenerife. From here you can continue on to Los Rodeos airport and the Cruz Chica viewpoint, from where you can look over a beautiful landscape. Tacoronte is well known for its wine.
