Asturias has a fantastic coastline with extensive stretches of pristine golden sand beaches plunging into the deep blue Atlantic ocean, and Llanes is probably one of the most popular destinations for summer holidays in Asturias. Many beaches in Asturias are an absolute paradise for surfers while some offer a more gentle bathing experience. In between the beaches the coastline is dotted with charming authentic fishing villages clinging to the cliffs. With over 200 beaches to choose from, deciding which to spend time on can be a real challenge. Here we have highlighted the most popular beaches near to where our Asturian beach properties are in Llanes.

Playa de Cuevas del Mar:
Playa de Cuevas del Mar in Nueva de Llanes has fantastic beauty, due to the cavities created in its rocks by the rolling sea. The beach of Cuevas del Mar has been used in many films. It is one of the beaches most frequently awarded the Blue Flag of the European Community). There is a car park beside the beach and a small beach bar open in high season. It is a pleasant sheltered bay with fine sand, and like most Asturian beaches it is best at low tide. This is a lovely part of the coast to explore with many other smaller beaches accessible only on foot including Playa de Puerto Seco and Playa de San Antonio.

Playa de Sablon:
La Playa de Sablon is the most outstanding beach in Llanes, located next to the San Pedro walk and within site of the old fort and the entrance to the harbour.

Playa de Toro:
La Playa de Toro is of extraordinary beauty due to the abudance of rocks rising out of the sands.

Playa de Puertu Chicu:
There is a song referring to La Playa de Puertu Chicu: 'If you bathe in Puertu Chicu you will be Llaniscu at heart.' It is a very small beach and at high tide it almost completely disappears.

Playa de Ballota:
La Playa de Ballota, near to Cue with its characteristic island, is one of the most beautiful on the Llanes coastline.

Playa de Poo:
La Playa de Poo is a well enclosed beach and at high tide it is like a swimming pool.

Playa de Torimbia:
La Playa de Torimbia is of extraordinary beauty. It is near to Niembro and popular with naturists.

Playa de Andrin:
La Playa de Andrin is an area of great natural beauty, where the Atlantic waves wash over the white sands.

Celorio:
Palombina, Borizo y San Martin are various beaches near Celorio with a view of the ancient Benedictine monastery. Playa de Gulpiyuri is a unique beach that is land-locked. The inland beach is fed through an underground cave and has been declared a natural monument.
