San Isidro - Overview:
Conveniently situated about 8km north of Reina Sofia airport and just ten minutes up the coast from El Medano, San Isidro is a cosmopolitan Spanish working town. Although not a traditional tourist destination this lively town has a large number of designer shops and smart restaurants and as such is a delightful place to shop and eat.
San Isidro - Shopping & Eating:
In San Isidro there is a petrol station, banks, post office, chemist, medical centre, supermarket (Mercadona), shops, bars and restaurants. Another good place to try for restaurants, especially if you like fresh fish, is Los Abrigos - a very quaint little fishing village, with plenty of restaurants situated on the seafront, around the little harbour.
San Isidro - Beaches:
The nearest beach to San Isidro is El Medano (8km) offering an array of watersports, surfing, kite surfing and wind surfing. Many surfing championships have been held here. It is also a very safe beach, specifically for bathers and children. The beach is surrounded by lovely shops, restaurants and cafe bars - an ideal choice for spending a lazy day on the beach, or an evening relaxing.
Just to the right of El Medano is another beach, La Tejita. This is a vast open sand beach with a small bar at one end. Although often very windy here (and the waves can be quite large) it is a beautiful beach.
